Digital technologies have transformed the availability and use of information and data through the power of networking, scale and speed, presenting both emerging opportunities and threats. For individuals, technology represents access to information - essential for democratic citizenship, economic opportunity and the ability to participate in society. Information and data generated by new technologies promise significant benefits for communities and the nation. But governments and nonprofits must understand how to effectively use them, manage challenges for public policy, and promote inclusion and social gain.
