CTDS Hosts International Visiting Scholars

Arizona State University's Center for Technology, Data, and Society (CTDS) had the privilege of hosting two international visiting scholars, Francesco Olivanti and Catalina Canals.

Francesco Olivanti joined CTDS from The Polytechnic University of Milan (Politecnico di Milano) from April through September 2023. Francesco is a Ph.D. Candidate in Management Engineering at the School of Management where he studies the relationship between digital transformation and the skills ecosystem. In addition to his doctoral work, Francesco holds research positions with the Digital Agenda Observatory and the Observatory for Digital Innovation in SMEs at Politecnico di Milano. Francesco recently presented his research on digital skills policy at the Telecommunications Policy Research Conference (TPRC). Read more about Francesco’s research here.

Catalina Canals joined the center from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile in Fall 2019. Catalina's research focuses on educational policies, specifically in the areas of school choice, educational markets, and gender differences in educational choices and outcomes. Catalina draws on computational models and simulation methods to understand the mechanisms behind educational trends. Catalina recently completed her Ph.D. in Complex System Engineering and now holds a post-doctoral researcher position at ASU's School of Public Affairs, where she continues to contribute to the university's academic community.
