PROMOTING DIGITAL EQUITY IN TEMPE

The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the disparities in internet access and use. This became more obvious in communities, compromising attempts to protect the economy, education, and health care in the face of extraordinary disruptions.  Beyond the pandemic, disparities jeopardize communities' capacity to flourish in an increasingly digital economy, innovate in digital democracy, and teach kids for the future. The City of Tempe is taking action to promote digital equity and tasked the Center on Technology, Data & Society (CTDS) with gathering data, listening to residents, and drawing ideas from other communities. Below is the final report of the center's work, which includes faculty and students from ASU's School of Public Affairs and the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication.
